What is a Demo Reel?
An actor’s demo reel is essential to showing what he/she looks like on camera, sounds like, and whether or not they currently have the skill level required to conquer the role they are being considered for. This doesn’t mean your scenes need to have a big ABC, FOX, or CBS logo watermarked on them somewhere. They simply need to be professionally written, lit, recorded, directed, edited, and exported. Each scene needs to best executed to best it possible can, so that the actor can be displayed in the best possible light.
Not having any footage can be a major obstacle and have a direct effect on the amount of growth an actors sees in their career. Putting out bad scenes or materials would only hurt your career even further. No reel is better than a bad reel. Until you have work that represents you in the most positive light possible and for the roles you are most appropriate for, you would be better off using your charm and personality to procure auditions. That will get you much further than bad materials. (example: Would you go to watch a movie with a bad trailer or bad posters?)
We do not provide a catalog of scenes to choose from. Situations such as those create an environment of extremely over-used scenes, which essentially makes you look just like everyone else that scene has been recorded for. In this competitive industry, having a a reel of scenes that truly represent your brand is important in ensuring your success!
