Professional headshots are often the first thing casting sees, long before your self tape. A strong headshot looks like you on your best day, today. It is sharp, well lit and shows your eyes clearly.
Before a shoot, decide which roles you are right for and plan two or three looks around them. Bring simple, solid-color tops. Avoid logos, busy patterns and anything that pulls focus from your face. Sleep well, drink water and arrive early so you are relaxed.
After the shoot, choose images with your agent or a trusted coach. Pick the ones that tell a clear story about your casting type. Update your headshots whenever your look changes, such as a new haircut or a big change in weight.
Your headshot and your self tape should match. If casting loves your photo, the tape should show the same person, in clean light and a simple frame.
